Australia - Drone Licensing from July 1st 2019

Exactly, all they need here is no flying over people at any height, to a distance of 30m laterally, the 60m dia cyilinder diagram covers it well.
Populous area is just non required information.

Even flying over people is not really needed when considering the lateral 30m around people, but I suppose you have to say that somewhere or another.

I think you can still go to casa general drone rule pages, droneflyer pages etc, and find 2 or 3 slightly different sets of written rules.
Hopefully they can just simplify all that when the rego / licencing comes into effect.

Wow, thanks for all the info, really appreciate it.

We've got a great trip planned: Port Douglas and GBR, and Daintree Rainforest. Then Sydney, then Melbourne. Then we pick up a campervan and drive the Great Ocean Road to Adelaide. Can't wait!

OpenSky which is endorsed by CASA, gives you a real time indication where you can fly

Have fun on your trip, Far North Qld is awesome
