I am a new mavic 2 owner and was waiting for Litchi to upgrade their software to use for the Mavic 2. I will almost always use waypoints to fly routes as I won't have line of sight to the drone. Today I just came across this bit of info for the first time.
"Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom Waypoints
In previous DJI waypoints you would first need to fly over the area and mark each waypoint. With Waypoint 2.0 on the new Mavic 2, the quadcopter no longer needs to fly to an exact shooting spot to mark waypoints.
Now, all you need to do is tap the desired waypoints and point of interest in the app, which allows you to plan a flight path quickly and save it for your next flight."

Would this method be as accurate or as safe as the Litchi software?

Here is where I found the above info.

Where did you get this information from? I hope this is accurate as it would be awesome to be able to have baked in preplanned waypoints in go 4.

Even with DJI's Waypoints 2.0, Litchi will be far superior. Their web based MIssion Hub allows you to design your waypoint missing on a real computer. Also they allow CSV import/export. I've written python scripts to write csv files for Litchi. You just import in the Mission Hub and voila, it's instantly synced to any mobile device you're using Litchi on. Maybe DJI will implement a system like this in Waypoints 3.0 but I doubt it.

Also Litchi has a beta currently going for Mavic 2. I haven't tried it personally but have seen some nice results on facebook from various beta users. They support both IOS and Android.

I've been flying Waypoint missions with Litchi since 2015 and DJI has a long way to go to catch up. Good for them for making a little improvement this time though.

I'm really excited for this and for the task library.

Although I get the feeling I will likely wind up using litchi at some point.

Thanks Nathan for the info. With the exception of the high end software I think Litchi will be stable enough for my use as I only fly non line of sight in the forest with my Mavic 2. Also thanks to gnirtS for pointing out the Mavic 2 manual has info related to future waypoint use.
