Haven't looked around the DJI site in a good while, but was interested to find they have an automotive division now developing software / manufacturing sensors for autonomous driving.

DJI Automotive - Offical Website

Seems looking around on Google this was news from around 2nd quarter (April) of 2021.
The DJ Drone website had a couple of articles about this in 2021, so maybe some here know about this.

Just thought it was interesting.

It's interesting until your car can't get a gps fix and just sits there😁

Or it takes 10 mins to get GPS lock, lol.

But seriously, this is quite a different field, but related to sensor tech DJI get into, inc lidar etc.
I guess they have the capability to build the software, sensors.

Not sure how much progress they are making getting their gear into manufacturers.
I'm guessing it will be a Chinese carmaker that takes it up first, if not already out there.
Haven't had a good look through the site to see if there is news on that front.

Moreover, the car will only drive when and where DJI allows you to...

Let hope they do not use the same chip in our drone that are being used in the Cruise Driverless Taxis in San Francisco… If they are, it might explain some of the stories of Drones Flying off on their own…

See the Article in the link with a Video of the Police pulling over a Taxi for not using its headlights at night…

Cops pull over driverless taxi in San Francisco, hilarity ensues

Or flying without navigation lights at least, lol.

That is actually a very funny situation, but leaves open the question about who gets a fine or penalty in such a circumstance.

The YouTube video direct . . .

When Cruise stated "the vehicle was pulled over on April 1 for not having its headlights on. This is precisely how Cruise vehicles are programmed to behave", one would assume just the pulling over routine from the traffic lights stop.

So a pretty big programming error not having the headlights on during its allowed ops (10pm - 6am).

Makes you wonder though, one day there will possibly be driverless cars totally on the roads (and / or in the air !) and they shouldn't even need headlights, indicators, car horns, or other such human warning devices.
