Hey Guys!

My drone arrives today and I cannot wait to start using it. I have been looking over all the laws and regulations addressing UAS, so that I am ready to use it as soon as it gets here!

Please correct me if I am wrong but, once it get's here, then I can actually register it to the FAA online, right?

Also, I got the certificate for passing the division of aviation NC UAS operators knowledge test, on the department of transportation's website...... is that thing useful for anything?

Look forward to contributing as I get better at droning!

Thanks,
RickyMavic

P.S. Who else is routing for McGregor?

No need to register anymore as the law was struck down. Now registration is strictly voluntary. Welcome the MP club! It sounds like you are well prepared.

Welcome to the Group! If you are just a hobbyist you don't need to register with the FAA, unless you pass your Part 107 test for commercial operation, then it is required. Fly safe!

That is awesome!!! This is the power of networking.

3 days in, and already crashed it into 2 trees. Thankfully the Mavic has an awesome habit of getting stuck in trees so it never actually fell to the ground.

Very nice! I live in Charlotte (Ballantyne) and I've been thinking about going close to uptown to get some photos as well. You grabbed a great one!

Looks great, my only critique is your horizon isn't level (easily fixed), other than that beautiful image!

Welcome Ricky I'm also a newbe
Like the picture thanks for sharing
.
If you have any questions just ask will try to help
Ever owned a quad copter ( drone).?
What firmware you running.?
What's you viewer of choice.?
.
And when you crash please take pictures of the Carnage
Nothing personal
Most of us "Newbe's" do it
.
Get in your setting ASAP
Change loss connection with controller RTH.
(return to home) not Landing or Hover
Front Avoidance sensor
Set to Stop (Hover) not over or around

Also in controller setting set the CSC
( both stick down shut all motor off)
Set to Emergency not Allway's.!

I personally make it a hard Rule
Not to fly on less the 20%battery
.
Look forward to more post with pic's

C,

Man I am having a blast with the drone!

Prior to the Mavic, I owned a hand sized drone for 1 day and crashed it on the ceiling of my freshmen dorm room. I did the same thing with the Mavic on the first day, but it didn't break... I don't think.

I don't know what firmware is, but I imagine I have the default one :S

I don't quite understand your question, but my view of choice are horizons.

I've done the RTH so far, and took a screen shot of the rest so I wouldn't forget tomorrow, so thanks.

I like your rule of thumb, and will abide by it too.

I just posted more pics

Thanks,
RickyMavic

P.S. BONUS SHOT

I found the MeetUp app to be kinda handy because I came across a weekly group that meets up to fly drones together, and they do it in the Old Charlotte Baseball Arena. This Saturday is my first "MeetUp" and I'm going to use it as a huge networking opportunity.

look into it.
