Basically presenting the idea that this could be one step closer to expanding current regulations of drone use. Maybe well see a lot more drones at big fires or even during the day in areas where fires could start?
Also I did see that Droneseed received permits for BVLOS to do their thing shortly after this was aired on TV. Perhaps they are related?
H. R. 5040 (Aerial Incursion Repercussion Safety Act of 2020 or the AIR Safety Act of 2020) is an act "To direct the Director of the Bureau of Land Management to study the effects of drone incursions on wildfire suppression, and for other purposes."
It's directive to the BLM to study the effects of drone incursions during wildfires. I don't see any connection with 5040 and a company getting BVLOS permits.
