Anyone ever try if the Xiaomi Mi Max 6.44" screen works with the Mavic? I'm pretty sure the remote control can fit it, but does the screen lag or anything?

It won't. 6" Just about fits with the cable at the very end of the "cutout" in the handle.

Any bigger and you'll have to put the phone awkwardly further down, then the included cable is too short, and any other you'd use ends up going into your hand exactly where you'd want to rest your palm to hold everything comfortably.

Wow! Thanks for the photos! Too bad it doesn't fit. The cost and size was perfect for a dedicated device. I don't want to buy a iPad MIni or Samsung Tab S2, since I have an iPad Air 2 and iPad Pro already.

My Mate 8 on the photos is perfect. Tad smaller but I doubt it wouild be much noticeable.

The Mi Max's hardware should be fine running the Go 4 app. I've used my Redmi Note 3 Pro which has the same CPU and other specs, and it works well. If the DJI USB cables don't fit you could use the controllers bottom USB port with a 20cm cable as you would for a tablet.

I bought the mi max specifically for the mavic pro RC. The screen is great, hardware and software works great. But The slot where the cable slider is on the remote does not accommodate the mi max microUSB port, it's too "far down" due to the phone size, hence you have to plug the phone in from the bottom USB port, you lose the palm feel imo. And of course the RC charges all unrooted android phones. Gone back to an iPhone 6. And the mi max has not seen light ever since.

How could you fit your RN3 into the controller? Could you? According to DJI the supported phone thickness is 6.5-8.5mm, and RN3 is 8.7mm thick. I'm asking this because I wanna buy a Redmi 4 Prime or Redmi Note 4 which are 8.9/~8.5mm thick.

Actually the Mi Max 2 fits OK, you just need to push the phone a bit more to the right side. It works with the provided USB-C cable just fine. See the attached picture.
