1. Flight started in GPS mode with 17 satellites, and normal GPS mode. That is enough to take off with, but not enough to be sure GPS...
OK, at least in the UK, CAA have 'clarified', and, for once seem to have done a rather sensible thing !
TLDR: The green lights you have are fine, even if they are off when recording !
Firmware updates have always been something of a mixed bag - sometimes adding useful new features, but more often than not, changing things, and restricting more things either at the time or later. For that reason I am unbothered if these updates...

But very rarely, there is perfectly lying low cloud around my closest big hill, where the line between fog and cloud get much more... foggy, and then you can get away with flights like this one...
Well, if you're taking off from 300 ft below the top of a hill, then over here you would be legally able to fly to the top of that hill, and then 400 ft above its apex, as long as you follow the contour of it and are never more than 400 ft above...
