And this is the key - VLOS is exactly what it says, you MUST be able to see your aircraft with the unaided eye at all times while it is in flight. There is no other definition that meets the regulations (which, at this point, are virtually world-wide in application).
Why do you refer to this, or indeed any, question as “dumb-***”? Just because you don’t know the answer doesnt make the question any less valid. If you don’t know about how the eye works and the consequences of that for night vision, and you then receive permission to fly at night (which is...
There is no “trick” answer. The methodology in multiple choice exams is very clear, present the correct answer, an answer that could be correct if the candidate doesn't know what they’re doing, and one or two incorrect answers. The only requirement is to remove any obviously incorrect answer(s)...
Not a nuance at all. General aviation knowledge about human factors. I’d question the quality of your material/software/online test preparation course if that wasn’t included.
"the moment you can no longer see your quad (even though it's techincally in LOS)"
How is an aircraft "technically in LOS" of you can no longer see it? Perhaps that's where your problem lies? It would be good to abide by the VLOS regulation both "technically" and practically.
Come on people, the drone didn’t make any decision about when to execute RTH or how to execute it. These are both settings that should be considered before take off and adjusted by the pilot for every flight individually. This situation was entirely avoidable and is also entirely pilot error.
It’s a shame that a new forum member receives such approbation on their first post in which they so clearly advocate flying way BVLOS. This forum simply shouldn’t stand for anyone or anything promoting flight at “9000ft”.
True. Plus DJI is now saying that "distance" is a "proxy" for the stability and strength of the control link rather than an actual distance that can/should be flown.
Think I might possibly know all of that?
The OP was talking about a situation where they add prop guards, decal, landing legs or some other attachment that takes the drone to 250g.
