    Drifting/Curving Issue

Interesting, I may have to try this. It looks like Cfixer is not available currently. I checked Amazon and a few other places, but it said unavailable. Would something like this work: Amazon.com: YaeTek Professional Watch Demagnetizer/magnetizer Demagnetization Machine Watchmaker Repair Tool...

    Drifting/Curving Issue

I never received a compass error message though, everything appeared normal on the controller. I only saw the speed error warning when I checked the log later.

    Drifting/Curving Issue

I calibrated the compass before I flew, since I haven't flown it near that area before. The IMU has not been calibrated since I did it when I first got it, I should probably do it again. I attached the DAT file.

    Drifting/Curving Issue

Earlier today I was showing someone my Mavic Pro and flying it around their yard. I wanted to show them how fast it could go in sport mode, and this is when the problems started to happen. There was little to no wind, but there could have been a breeze above me as I was in a somewhat enclosed...

Confused about commercial regs and flying over consenting party

Even if you have consent, you still need a waiver from the FAA. The only way you are legally allowed to fly over someone is if they are directly participating in the drone operations, such as a spotter. So theoretically you could make everyone a spotter, but it would likely be bending the rules...

M2Z OccuSync Glitch = Lost Drone

To me it looks like it ended up drifting away due to high wind. You can see the dramatic change in speed when going against and with the the wind. When you were flying south the speed stayed around 22 MPH (indicating you are fighting the wind), and when flying back to the east the speed went up...

    flight simulator lite??

You could use the simulator built into DJI Go on your phone or tablet. The only downside is you need to have the drone turned on and your remote connected. In DJI Go 4 click the menu button (top right corner), then click on the Academy option. It should show the flight simulator at the top of...

    New Mavic 2 Pro

I took the DPGS course aswell, and thought it was a very helpful resource to prepare for the test. You are not required to get drone insurance with a Part 107 certification, and I would likely only get insurance if I started to do a lot of serious work. I would definitely recommend getting your...

New Pilot - passed my 107 exam yesterday...

Congratulations! I am expecting my actual card to come in the mail any day now. It took my application about 6 weeks to be completely processed, although I got my temporary certificate within a few days. You may find this helpful, Airmen Certification It tells you what date the FAA is...

Davinci Resolve Studio is worth it (to me)!

I never realized the studio version offered hardware decoding. Choppy editor playback is my main issue. I might consider upgrading hearing how much of an improvement you experienced. What graphics card are you using? I am only using Intel integrated graphics, and it has been working surprisingly...

Need guidance on first aerial photo job

I don’t believe the cell tower should have too much of an effect, but you may want to stay a little ways away from the power lines. I noticed you said you are a new drone pilot, and was wondering if you know that you need a Part 107 certification to get paid for any drone services (or for...

    Getting NFZ Permission

That’s actually a much better idea than having to call the airport. I’m kind of excited to see what comes of the new FAA reauthorization.

    Getting NFZ Permission

LAANC is only available to Part 107 license holders, and doesn’t apply to recreational use. You just have to call the airport if you are within a 5 mile radius, and notify them of your flight.

    Getting NFZ Permission

You are allowed to film sports, although you may still want to get the organizers permission. It is mainly the large sport stadiums that have the NFZ during games. I wouldn’t recommend flying over people though, as you would need a waiver from the FAA. As long as you are not flying directly over...

Recreational flyer. Can I give a commercial entity a photo to use?

Ultimately it is up to the OP, like you said. I personally feel better, having my Part 107 license, that I am not doing anything wrong or operating in a grey area. The recreational rules do seem in some what of a sorry state currently, so both of our arguments may be true. I never knew the...
