Mavic 2 Pro won’t fly. Says “ESC status error”

You'll need a solder iron, 60 watt will do. 60/40 lead/tin flux core solder is best. A solder probe is good to hold the wire in place on the pad. With a clean tip (you can wipe on a damp rag if you don't have the proper sponge), apply a very small amount of solder to the tip, this is to help...

Is my HOA going to be a problem?

Most HOA developments, and their CC&Rs, were in place before the advent of drones. It usually takes a fair amount of work to amend the CC&Rs (and usually a super majority type vote - say 75%). Thus they are not directly spoken to in most of those documents. If the HOA also has Rules and...

    Mini 2 got wet

Dry rice is better than nothing, but it's not a good desiccant. From the internet, where truth always prevails :) "Is rice as good as silica gel? Rice is most definitely not king Dry, uncooked conventional rice was the worst of the seven options we tested. It absorbed the least water in 24...

Dji smart controller black screen without overlay

Is battery fully charged? If not, try plugging in charger, wait 10 minutes and while charger is still plugged in, turn on smart controller again.

    Which Mavic is best?

I like my M2 P, but this is the "drone" for that. Other advantages, always within VLOS and you get to go along for the ride. Disclaimer: Ok, not shown at 23K, but has been up to over 28K. This is in mountain wave over Carson Valley, NV.

    Negative Altitude Flight

My comment was in reference to descending into a valley, out of VLOS, with terrain between the drone and controller, which is what I thought the OP was asking about.

    Negative Altitude Flight

If you don't have visual line of sight, you also most likely lose radio contact. Drone would normally initiate a return to home.

    Dynamic balance propellers

I've posted here before on static balancing of the propellers on my M2P. Balance indeed can be improved, though the DJI props are marginally better than MAS. When the props are new, a jig such as this will put them at 180 out from each other and with care they will stay that way during balancing...

What can I do with my Mavic 2 Zoom beyond just photos and video?

There's a general rule about business start ups and the likelihood of their success. The more barriers (licenses, certificates, experience, difficulty and cost) to overcome for entry, the greater the odds for success. If it's relatively easy to "get in", others will note your success and copy...

Keep props from hitting each other, is this good?

What it does accomplish is to prevent the prop blades from folding back, so the tips are together, for transport or storage. In use, as Thomas B. says, it solves no problem as the blades stay apart naturally due to centrifugal force as soon as the motors start turning.

It would be interesting to set a specific flyby altitude.

A good rule of thumb, as you're approaching an object and the top of that object is below the distant horizon, you are above it.

    M2Z conversation to FPV

For FPV, you're gonna have to get the video signal back. Plus the M2, at least compared to the FPV drones, is a tank with far less maneuverability. It's not made for what you want to do. But like a kick scooter in a bicycle race, it may get round the course - eventually. I'd buy a FPV drone like...

    Yagi for the mini itself??

The Yagi gets it's increased gain, and thus range, by being directional. That means at distances where this comes into play, you will lose reception if the drone is turned so the Yagi is not pointing back at the controller.
