Mavic 2 Batteries bulging, less than 40 recharges each: Planned Obsolescence, Bad Batch...or Coincidence?

Well, I didn't abandon the drone: I sold it for the best price I could get as a used drone with two malfunctioning batteries. Which is sensible, not extreme.... IF I was going to sell - which I did - this was the time to do it, and for the best price I could get while providing full disclosure...

Mavic 2 Batteries bulging, less than 40 recharges each: Planned Obsolescence, Bad Batch...or Coincidence?

Hello El Dedos: I posted original thread; can't provide any more conclusive info except what I experienced. I went to official vendor and shop where I purchased drone, they gave me velcro strap to keep batteries from popping out of chamber at great height (doesnt solve the bulging issue...

    Swelling batteries

I agree, I think you got shafted; I may have as well. I live in SE Asia, also quite hot here at times but I think within DJI's 'official' temp guidelines. Even so, the batteries are rated at 200 recharge cycles - anything below 50 is a real anomaly and disappointing. Either it's a bad batch...

    Swelling batteries

Mine were (are) 7 months old as well, a batch of two, with less than 40 flights each. They don't stay hot many hours after flight though, your seem to be a bit further down the road. I too was disappointed in the fact that they started puffing so early, with basically normal use. By the way, i...

    Swelling batteries

Sorry to hear about your battery situation; sounds like there may be a few bad batches of batteries floating around. There's nothing to do but contact DJI, if it's under warranty they will replace, but if not under warranty - if even a few weeks over warranty, as with mine - they will not...

    Swelling batteries

Hey, just want to let you know I'm also based in the 'tropics' with higher than normal ambient temperatures (and a hot season before rainy season). Similar to you, BOTH of my Mavic 2 zoom batteries are slightly puffed with under 50 recharge cycles normal use and no hot storage etc. Just letting...

Mavic 2 Batteries bulging, less than 40 recharges each: Planned Obsolescence, Bad Batch...or Coincidence?

They've only been fully discharged when I deliberately spun them down for the recommended periodic full discharge/recharge process. Critical level (for me) with autolanding is set at 15%, I have low battery warning set at 25% and usually land right after. Unless we have to handle them like...

Mavic 2 Batteries bulging, less than 40 recharges each: Planned Obsolescence, Bad Batch...or Coincidence?

Hmmm. Then it's really odd that both would bulge at the same time. I'm thinking now it could be a manufacturing/process error with the batch. Which sucks for me....anyway, thanks

Mavic 2 Batteries bulging, less than 40 recharges each: Planned Obsolescence, Bad Batch...or Coincidence?

Just posting this to see if anyone else had this occur: my original battery and a spare both started bulging slightly just AFTER the 6 month warranty mark. Normal use, only around 40 recharge cycles each, never dropped, never stored in hot places. Is it planned obsolescence, a bad batch at...
