I already have a MPP and I'm not a fan of the Mavic Air. With that being said, I can see people that don't have a drone purchasing the Air since its better than then Spark but not as expensive as the Mavic Pro.

Haha of course its not weird. I just hope you had bought the Spark Fly More Combo when Microcenter had it on sale for $399. It was in-store only and wasn't listed on their website. Or get Best Buy to price match it and get a free $50 GC with a purchase of a Spark promotion they had going on...

Don't think a CPL filter would affect obstacle avoidance. Since the filter is on your camera and Obstacle Avoidance would be detected by the 2 sensors on the front of the done.

I know this might be silly to ask but I'm just pursuing all avenues here. Did you make sure to remove the gimbal clamp? Also have you tried doing a gimbal calibration? If neither of these options work then you might be able to send it for their standard manufacturer warranty. Not exactly sure...
