Although in your case, legally not recommended as you’ll be losing VLOS, there are solutions that will allow you to send your drone on a “mission” that can reliably return it from a loss of signal situation. Litchi is one of those and will work with most DJI drones (May not be available for the...
This paragraph sheds some light on the aircraft and persons targeted in the proposed rule making.
“All UAS operating in the airspace of the United States, with very few exceptions, would be subject to the requirements of this rule. All UAS operators would be required to comply regardless of...
I usually keep my comments to social media posts very short and polite or don’t comment at all. But I couldn’t resist commenting on some of the silliness of the recent drone sightings over Colorado and Nebraska. I kept quiet until people began reporting them over my neighborhood in Lincoln, NE...
Have flown in my suburban neighborhood many times. Neighbors are interested and some have asked for copies of neighborhood orbits I’ve done or a video of their roof to look for storm damage. Generally fly above 200 ft so my Mavic Air with Master Air Screw props is barely audible. I’ve had zero...
Flying my Mavic Air in a suburban environment I’ve had no worries about some of the “issues” that are claimed for it. Battery lasts long enough (but get several), WiFi range is ok especially when considering keeping the aircraft in visual range, nose is not bad with the Master Airscrew v2...
I installed the MAS v2 props on my Mavic Air and flew it without any gain changes. Noticeable noise reduction and rock steady even inside - no drifting.
I don’t have a Mavic Mini. However I think thIs video presents a real life flight (without commentary) and as such can shed light on questions some folks may have about this drone. FYI: I’ve been flying a Mavic Air for over a year now. Caveats are that this appears to be very rural (no or low...
Welcome to the West - Mid-West. If I were in you’re area I’d check out the Riverside Bluffs area for flying. Restrictions are: No hunting or trapping, No motorized vehicles (maybe only ground based but check) and No horses.
I’ve personally never visited but the loess bluffs along the east side...
As long as your waypoints have “Above Ground” checked you should be ok. I often do Litchi missions where the waypoints are below the starting point, but you could try a short flight going both above and below before committing to a longer flight.
I understand the concern about noise from the MA. I’m surprised though that you (or others) still find it annoying at “400’ up and hundreds of feet away”. My MA with the Master Airscrew v2 props is barely audible at 200’ overhead. I live and fly in a suburban area that is fairly quiet although...
