Exactly. I started using the designation Mini-1 early on, to give it a distinct name. "Mavic Mini", while historically accurate, is ambiguous. Keep the much clearer Mini-1 designation! :cool:

I agree with OMM that the Mini-1 is a fine little aircraft. I had one too. I also agree that if you can swing the (small) extra cost, a used Mini2 would be a better choice. Vastly better camera + OS2. But you wouldn't go far wrong with that Mini-1 combo at that price. If you don't like droning...

I agree. I get all my drone stuff from Amazon. Most of my other stuff too. They are generally fast and efficient, and there isn't a better returns policy in the business.

Please don't take anything I said as suggesting you shouldn't do it! It's a hoot! Just do it incrementally. I'd fly up and down the canyon at the elevation of the edge first. Watch carefully for any variations in GPS or controller signal strength. Then drop down 25', and try it again. Lather...

What's the hang up with getting a direct AGL read-out? It doesn't have to be precise. Worst case, you could match GPS position with a digitized terrain map, use height above take-off as a reference, and read out the answer directly. It just strikes me as odd that such an obviously useful think...

That's a good idea! I'll add that to the test list. I had never used DJI A2 before, but DJI suggested it during my attempts to reset my FPV. It didn't work in that case, but it might be useful here. Thx!
