You could use your smartphone to control it. There is a switch on the device, see the manual. (its not for long distance flights though) Then you need a charger for about $20. But I wonder, the drone should normally be registered with DJI. But you could try it out and maybe in the process find...

I updated everything (Mate 9, DJI Goggles, App and Mavic) and had a look: Latency with the goggles is about 180ms. With the Mate9 it's about 380ms.

I never noticed the latency until I stumbled on this thread. Don't have any new figures yet (maybe sunday).

I had hoped to give some numbers before the update but I was forced to update DJI Go before I could make a test. So far I never had an issue with the delay but I also haven't flown since this recent update. And now it is about 390ms.

Just landed on spot.

I frequently fly with the Mate 9 attached. I'll check my latency later today.
