Ken Heron on the FT Aviator

I know this is an old thread, but I gotta try anyway. I only flew my drones a couple of times during covid in 2020, and I recently decided to pick the hobby back up. I loved the FT Aviator when it first came out and, for me, it worked really well with my Inspire 1 and Mavic 2 Zoom. That is until...

Where do you fly from on a hot day? This is what I have resorted to... I like it!

Bad news for those of us in Texas and the South in general, then. ;) We are routinely between 95 to 100 degrees for three or four months out of the year. But point well taken; especially the part about water vapor condensation. I open my rig when I get to the field and let things warm up a bit...

125' X 75' and the ceiling height is around 20' to 25' or so.

    Fluidity FT Aviator Feedback

Here are a few photos of the prototype in progress. The platform is currently .25" mdf, but will eventually be 3D printed ABS with device holders that will be modular, interlock, and be lightweight and stable. Top of the Manfrotto tripod showing aluminum collar and the ball head disassembled...

    Fluidity FT Aviator Feedback

Valid observation. Personally, I don't really see much of an advantage to using the FT Aviator for folks who fly mission and/or mostly freehand at significant distances. I think the Aviator's admittedly narrow niche is in applications where you want/need to capture very close up and smooth...

There ya go... that's headed in the right direction. Photos coming shortly of my work in progress from this past weekend.

Lately I've been doing flight practice and R&D on my drone rig inside a huge air-conditioned warehouse that will soon be the new Metal Shop for the Dallas Makerspace. ;)

    Fluidity FT Aviator Feedback

Hi All. Life got in the way, but I just got everything up and running at the same time using that tablet mentioned above and it does work! I have the M2 RC connected to the tablet, the tablet's hdmi out port connected to the Moviero BT35Es, and a usb-c cable connecting the BT35Es to the tablet...

    Fluidity FT Aviator Feedback

The Manfrotto tripod I'm using has an aluminum collar below the 1/4 x 20 shoe, and my platform will be bolted to that collar for greater stability. I'll also be fabbing in braces underneath the platform to give it additional rigidity and strength. One thing I found very useful is that the...

    Fluidity FT Aviator Feedback

Will do. Working on fabrication now. I'm using the quick release 1/4x20 camera mount to very quickly snap the FT Aviator onto and off of the top of the tripod. The ball head is great for finding and setting the most comfortable position for the Aviator. When I first pulled the Aviator out of...

    Fluidity FT Aviator Feedback

Not sure if I'm doing this correctly, but here goes... This was shot 2019-08-10 and it's my first five minutes with the FT Aviator, and just the 3rd flight of my M2V. No edits, other than scaling the 4K footage to 1080 and re-encoding save some bandwidth. Factory camera settings, because I...

    Fluidity FT Aviator Feedback

Hi Everyone! First post, but have been reading Mavic Pilots for quite a while now. I pre-ordered the FT Aviator the first day I found out about it in mid-March of this year. Received mine on August 6th. Flew my new M2Z with it yesterday (3rd flight ever for the M2Z, but I also own an Inspire 1...
