You are right the top of the board of trade building is up around 600ft. Depending on your takeoff point you may not need an unlock.

The way around it is to request that the Midway geozone over that area is unlocked through DJI. Then you can go higher based on your unlocking request.

Welcome from Chicago and enjoy the new drone! I started off with a MA2 and really liked using it.

I checked the airspace beforehand and I'm decently sure I didn't run afoul of the Chicago rules.

So far just in my neighborhood with a straight up and back down flight to grab some sunset photos. I plan on heading down to downtown at the lakefront on a day off with good weather.

Taken the other day after last weekend's snowfall. Was able to get the MA2 up in the air for some quick pictures right before sunset.
