I think that's all it is. I'm overthinking it.

The Mavic Air pretty much flies itself and would be very hard for anyone to mess up. I think you would be fine without it. What you could do, is spend some of the extra money on DJI Refresh +. In the event you or your wife have an accident, you could get a repair/replacement.

I picked up a Lenovo TB-8504F from Walmart for under $100. It's an Android 8" tablet. It's bright, runs the app well, has expandable storage and fits in the controller and if you have the fly more combo with the carrying case, it fits in that case also.

I think the Epson Moverio goggles are the only ones that are compatible outside of the DJI offerings, so slim pickings if you were looking for third parties. Fat Sharks aren't for our drones, that I'm aware of.

I didn't mind the goggles. They're pretty comfy on my big head and fit around my glasses. The picture is large and right in your face which is something that I like since sometimes the glare from the sun can wash out phones/tablets and make them hard to see.
