I've never seen a firmware update for the 4 Battery charging hub. I guess DJI just manufactured it...
If you are talking about the DJI 4 battery charging hub that folds up for storage....yes there is a small micro USB port under a rubber cover. I believe it could be used by DJI to provide a firmware update to the charging hub for whatever reason. I believe that's what I read a long time ago...
Advanced gimbal settings in DJI Go4 app allows a 30 degree up setting. Unless you are shooting the pano pics in the actual panorama mode then that probably won't help because the camera chooses the gimbal adjustment angles for each shot automatically.

There is gimbal settings in the DJI Go 4 app to correct tilted horizon. You can search tutorials for this. Here is a link for a good overview of all the settings in the DJI Go 4 app.

I could be mistaken, but I believe the little white arrow in the compass is showing the direction to the home point or the remote controller.
Another great option is using a free App called Snapseed which is available on Android or Apple. It's a great alternative with lots of RAW file editing tools. Check out several videos on YouTube about it.
Would quickly switching temporarily to sport mode have helped?
I don't have a Mavic Air. I have Mavic 2 Pro and I know Sport Mode turns off obstacle avoidance sensors.
