Re-reading I realize you said used since I was going to suggest buying from a place that accepts returns. Any possibility you can meet the seller and try installing and running the Fly app?
The Fly app needs a 64 bit OS system. Some Tabs are 32 bit (mine for instance) and cannot run the app and the Play store will not offer it. Some have side loaded the app and gotten it to work. I tried that but it would not run.

I considered those pencil chargers, too. Comments seem to suggest it will NOT work. I guess I probably could afford to experiment and if returns are permitted, return it if it does not work????
The case issue can be significant. I suspect that many folks have their phones in a protective case. The controller's jaws are generally not able to accommodate phones or smaller tablets protected by a case. It would be nice if DJI made a change to allow cases.
