Think carefully before purchasing if you’re in the EU and UK

I would be very careful about that interpretation, as this whole subject was debated quite heavily over this last year. The EASA reg's (by my interpretation) state that a Legacy drone can fly Open Category - class A3 without the Operator sitting any exams. In the UK it has been proposed that an...

Think carefully before purchasing if you’re in the EU and UK

The EASA rules are very concise in stating that they will NOT allow retrospective certification of existing drone models. Any drone that does not have a new certification label will be classed as a Legacy UAV and must fly under rules accordingly. Unfortunately - the only way you will get a...

    Mavic Mini uncommanded descent tests

It is, and we are discussing what we strongly believe to be the cause of that problem i.e. the DJI suggested method of storage of the folded up Mavic Mini leads to propellor blade distortion, loss of blade pitch and lift, and that leads to uncommanded descents of the Mavic Mini when max power is...

    Mavic Mini uncommanded descent tests

Thanks @Zbip57 - apologies, I should have referenced you in my post #242.

    Mavic Mini uncommanded descent tests

To be really picky about this point, do you fold the Mini up as shown by DJI's diagram?? ... One of our Forum members has pointed out that the diagram is impossible to achieve as the prop's would have to have the reverse spin and pitch to achieve exactly what DJI show ... Just as an observation...

    Mavic Mini uncommanded descent tests

And yet, it happens ... How come the DJI cure - and the most common cure for the problems this causes is for DJI to replace - or suggest the owner replaces - the props? [I can assure you that I'm not advertising any products on Social Media ... The carry case I show above has no manufacturer...

    Mavic Mini uncommanded descent tests

Well actually - that's what started this whole thing ... The rear motors would show speed errors and the Mini would fall out of the sky. DJI would have to acknowledge that this was the cause of the problem - but to date, they have not. If you are not having problems using the FlyMore case - then...

    Mavic Mini uncommanded descent tests

The prop's are not just lightly pressing against each other though. The motors are cantered outward at about 5 degrees from the vertical and that means that to mesh as per the DJI diagram, 3 of the 4 blades must bend downwards (in toward the body of the drone). You can best see this by folding...

    Mavic Mini uncommanded descent tests

Oh for goodness sake! This whole thread is dedicated to telling everybody why this method of storage is responsible for the warping of the prop's in the first place! Due to the outward cantering of the rear motors on the Mini - if you mesh the prop's like this they bend and flatten. When the...

    Mavic Mini uncommanded descent tests

In theory - yes - that would do the trick. However, the Mini does not have the same twist-lock props that the big-brother Mavic's have, so if you were to screw/un-screw the prop blades for every flying day, you'll risk damaging the threads where the screws are put in to hold the props - and...

    Master Airscrew Props for MPP

I am comparing MAS prop's to the DJI 8331 'quiet' prop's designed for the Mavic Pro Platinum. Yes - the rpm is lower with the MAS prop's which is why they are quieter, and why less 'energy' is needed to keep the Mavic in the air.

    Prop damage

While it's easy to see damage on the tips of the prop blades, what often goes unnoticed is a crack at the other end, where the blade is pinned to the hub. In line with other suggestions here, if you value your drone, replace the damaged prop's ASAP.

    Master Airscrew Props for MPP

I'm not sure what point you are making sorry - but just for reference - I use MAS prop's on a Mavic (1) Pro Platinum - and have not had to alter any GAIN settings.

Probably the stupidest FM case mod to stop the warping props, but it works!

I think that the point of the two mod's shown in the photo's above, is that the body of the Mavic Mini is lifted up far enough so that the rear prop-blades can sit without being meshed together in the dug-out trench in the FlyMore case.

    MOTOR SPEED ERROR MAVIC MINI

The secret is not so much to take the weight off the prop's, but not to mesh them together. The slot in the FlyMore case is designed to give space for the props so that there is no weight/pressure on them - but - if you mesh the props together east/west like DJI show on the label they put in the...
