Remote ID really built into the Air 2S? How does it work?

I took it out to a remote location, used a phone without a VPN, and I got the RID signal right away. Thanks for all the answers above. The funny part, it also worked on the first phone from the original test, with the VPN turned on, without settings changes. Now, in the first test, I was in...

    Atlantic City NJ at Night

I would up the exposure of the first video clip, you go from what looks like sunset then the next shot doesn't look that dark, so I thought I was back in daytime. Just didn't seem consistent. I would run the images at the end, that's just me, and give more time, 5 seconds per image with titles...

Remote ID really built into the Air 2S? How does it work?

Thanks mobilehomer, I know my networks pretty well. Googling didn't bring me a good result, just a lot of posts speculating. I suspect it's because I forgot to shut off my VPN on my phone. I'll load the app on a phone without a VPN, my "Tello phone" LOL Thanks for all the info Ty Pilot!

Remote ID really built into the Air 2S? How does it work?

OK thanks I'm gonna go try the Open Source app next, here's their Github that links to their Google Play app. https://github.com/opendroneid/receiver-android If there's any other app suggestions I'll load em up on my phone and go test again. Thanks for the response!

Remote ID really built into the Air 2S? How does it work?

I went through several threads from last year that didn't address my questions, so here goes: 1) I updated my firmware yesterday on my Air 2S. I also updated the controller firmware with DJI Assistant to be sure. I do see the Remote ID number in the settings. I wanted to see if this really...

    Deer Valley, Utah.

I'm sure DV staff would disagree with me. This is the classic "fed vs. state laws/rules." Based on the never enforced Utah laws, if DV is fenced or sufficiently posted as private property, then there's a state law that says you shouldn't cross that line with your drone. I wrote a long article...

Places to fly in central Utah.

It's an old thread, but I ran across it so others will as well. The weight only matters for registration purposes. All the other rules still apply to the lightweight drones, such as restrictions on flying over people, airspace restrictions, authorization areas, etc. The sub-249 gram drones DO...

    Deer Valley, Utah.

I'm not a rabid "fly anywhere" person, I do respect the Utah laws about flying over private property, but those laws are hardly ever if never enforced, according to LEOs I've spoken with who specialize in drones. A property can't just declare itself a no-fly zone. If the entire property is...

Part 107 in Utah, Got Drone

Hey thanks for the reply, I'll go check out the members map. I've seen people dub over the wrong sound on railroad drone videos, it's a good idea in theory but it's really just not authentic. I really just wanted to get that video out and go reshoot it on my next trip, I have a new mic on the...

Part 107 in Utah, Got Drone

Hi I'm Jim in Utah County, Utah, I've had my part 107 over a year now, I do a lot of train chasing with my drone out in Nevada. Just look up the V&T Railroad on Youtube and you should find the channel. Here's a link to one: I've got an Air 2S that I love, it's been up in the air many hours...

Do I need a part 107 if I'm volunteering to shoot drone video to promote a California State Park?

Sorry if I missed this already but the government employees are exempt from Part 107 right? I remember running across something that law enforcement / first responders are exempt from 107, I thought that's for all gov't employees. Maybe not. If so, make them the pilot and they're letting you...
