Had no problems flying with my drone and 2 spare batteries in carry on. I carry the batteries in Lipo bags and apply tape over the terminals.
I always remove the props and put them in my checked luggage - this way I can't be accused of carrying sharp objects and of course the drone won't fly...
On the other end of the spectrum I'd also like to see a Mavic Lite. Same frame but some reduced features and reduced cost. Maybe single compass, single IMU, 2.7k camera on 2axis gimbal, no downwards flow vision. If same price as the still popular Phantom 3 Standard it would be a good seller if...
I saw a comment in one of the teardowns that there "seemed" to be room for backwards facing sensors. I'd like to see a beefed up gimbal (not that I've had problems yet) and more fly time.
Some months ago I flew my Phantom 3 Standard up above fog to 110m. Didn't use the Mavic. Anyway, got some great shots, but on landing the Phantom was dripping wet. Didn't seem to effect it. I did hover at ground level for a few minutes to dry it out. On that occasion I was glad I used the...
From what I can see on youtube most (95%) of Mavic crashes are operator error. And many problems on this forum are pretty minor.
I read somewhere (and agree) that flying a drone is like driving down a freeway on a high speed motorbike with a $1000 gripped in your teeth. That's part of it.
My...
I fly Mavic and Phantom 3 standard every couple of days on average. I think the 10-20 minutes practice a day is making piloting easier and more instinctive. Sometimes I fly a racer to practice with no gps or altitude hold assistance for fun and practice.
I do like to fly in new locations (I'm...
I travel with the Mavic and batteries in by carryon backpack. Batteries are taped and in seperate Lipo bags. I always take them out of the backpack prior to X-ray - I guess to show I'm not hiding anything. Been questioned twice. One guy wanted to confirm the batteries were less than 100Whr (they...
With Mavic firmware later than 01.03.0700 the phone must be connected and app running during take off to remove the 30m/50m restriction. The phone doesn't need to stay connected after takeoff. I fly without the phone a lot just for the joy of flying, so I've kept the Mavic at 01.03.0700 firmware...
I thought I would contribute my experiences with using my Motorola G4 Plus phone with the Mavic Pro, using both DJI GO 4 and Litchi.
I've had the Mavic Pro for about 8 months. Initially DJI GO 4 would constantly crash, so I changed to Litchi, which appeared stable and fast. I kept up to date...
Yup. Happens to me quick regularly in Western Australia while flying near bush. Seems to happen less in winter. The drone gets covered with chopped up bees. Can take a while to clean up. The picture is one of my old Hubsan H501s drones that took a particularly bad beating from the bees about...
