    Flying in Melbourne & Tasmania

Any national parks are off the list, and that is countrywide AFAIK. I think that we are a little less restrictive elsewhere. I live in NSW, and the message from the parks people is that you need to apply for a permit to fly in a national park, but don't bother as they will probably take your...

Mavic 3 sample DNGs shot at f/5.6 and f/8

I now have some at 5.6 that I am happy to share. I am shooting at auto everything so it’s a bit of a lottery. Ping me if you want some.

    Who owns a Smart Watch?

I use a Garmin Venu 2, and love it. I can customise it to show me what I want, pay for things, show me only what I want to see when I am exercising, send an alert if I ever have an accident etc. I am a longtime user of Apple products but the Apple watch looked like the Swiss Army device that I...

    Who owns a Smart Watch?

I use a Garmin Venu 2, and love it. I use it for my rides, for payments and lots of other stuff. I prefer it over the Apple watch as it lets me configure just what I want to see when riding. I have had a few Garmins along the way, and have never been disappointed.

    DJI Mavic pilots - Australia

I spend my time between Tumbarumba and Avalon. I'm pleased to say that I have the Mavic 3 Fly More kit and am very happy with it. I bought it because it is the first drone that has a serious stills camera. I have no interest in video at all. Here's my site that even has one drone image in the...

Photography: Mavic 3 vs. Mini 3 Pro

That Iceland trip is what got me hooked on aerials. That was the most productive 45 minutes of my life. I do envy you a winter trip anywhere in the South Island. The images are magic. I love the power lines image. I have both the 12-100 and 300 Oly lenses, no argument from me on their quality...

Photography: Mavic 3 vs. Mini 3 Pro

Thanks Andrew, that's very kind of you. Lake Ohau is one of my favourite places in NZ. Your image is a cracker. I have never been there with such a good snow cover. I will be following what happens with the M3 with interest. I get the impression that stills has not had a lot of focus with DJI so...

Photography: Mavic 3 vs. Mini 3 Pro

That’s interesting. I’ve sold framed prints for years. I print them at the size that I want to and let people decide if they want them. I understand about people being disappointed. I used to get queries about an image of the Anzac Bridge from people who wanted it for splashbacks, It was from an...

Photography: Mavic 3 vs. Mini 3 Pro

I have now, thanks. I just don't have the strength or need to work on stitches of that magnitude, I have given up printing large a while ago.

Photography: Mavic 3 vs. Mini 3 Pro

I haven't considered it for a number of reasons. Digital zoom is the work of the devil, and JPG just makes it worse. No amount of magic would rescue that combo. In my non-drone life I have a D850 with a slew of Zeiss and adapted Leica R lenses, along with an Olympus EM1 II and Oly lenses. I...

Photography: Mavic 3 vs. Mini 3 Pro

I think that the M3 lens is fine. For me, it's just too wide. I have spent a lifetime shooting long, and find it way too wide to work with comfortably but I will persist.

That would suit me. I wrestle with wide lenses so something like the Oly 12-100 would be magic.

MAS Props for the M3 Available to Order!

That's like the old Ebay trick where it looks cheap and then you get gouged on freight, but these aren't cheap to start.

    DJI Mavic pilots - Australia

Belmore wouldn’t be high on my priority list. You obviously aren’t from Sydney. That looks a lot worse than it really is. All the orange ones are take care, and often cover helipads at hospitals. I would never go near them. I am more interested in the coastlines in Sydney.
