OK, mea culpa. I should have remembered the 48-hour "deadline".
It's been a couple years since my last DJI drone purchase, and purchasing Care Refresh was not the top of my list of priorities for the week. I was focused on getting familiar with the new-to-me Smart Controller and getting the...
Very much annoyed by DJI's requirements for me to purchase 'DJI Care Refresh' for my 4-day-old Mavic 2 Pro.
Purchased a new Mavic 2 Pro (my second), which I received and activated four days ago. I haven't flown it yet, having put it aside after powering it to get familiar with the Smart...
That is the very best advice: fly upwind out, recover downwind.
If I didn't fly in 25-35 MPH winds on the island of Curacao, I'd *NEVER* be able to fly! Today is typical, as seen below.
That, of course, only applies to one cruise company serving Alaska. Another, Norwegian Cruise Lines, does not permit passengers to bring drones on board:
"
Passengers should not bring the following items onboard any Norwegian Cruise Line ship:
Drones (Game Flying Device)
Guests are not...
Best source of information on the policies of your cruise line is your cruise line. I know that some lines have (irrational, IMO) policies that don't permit carrying a drone on board, even if not flown! Contact your cruise line with that question, or search their web site for policies.
Alaska...
I bought the Goggles Racing Edition as a way to battle the intense sun on Curacao when I travel there, but have come to the conclusion that it was not a wise purchase for me. In fact, I've never even flown with them!
I purchased the Mavic Pro and Mavic 2 Pro drones because they are compact and...
Has anyone heard an explanation of why a battery for a Mavic 2 is US $50 - $60 more expensive than one for the Mavic Pro?
The technologies don't differ significantly.
I spent some time recently trying to find out what it would cost to add a new second controller for my Mavic 2 Pro, but did not find it offered on the DJI site or any secondary market. (Clearly, they are available on eBay: I was looking for new price).
Does DJI sell them separately?
Curacao can be a slow process in many things related to the government, but my experience in January and the reported experiences of several in the earlier posts in this thread suggests that they have been doing fairly well with the drone registration process. AFAIK, there are 'single points of...
No, they still expect you to register with CCAA, and it is very definitely best to accomplish it before you travel! Have you telephoned CCAA at the number I gave above? The CCAA operator seemed nice and helpful when I was originally tracking down Mr. Llanes. Keep trying! Things are not always...
Darn, I thought that they had defined an efficient process for the full approval procedure! I would not worry about it,a nd fly. They are mostly concerned that you know the No-Fly Zones and guidelines, and they already know that the Mavic Pro type drone has been previously registered and...
Concerning my wind warning in the replay above, I've been watching wind conditions at my Curacao site near Santa Martha Bay, and they have not gotten any better since I returned in February. Gusts at 400-feet often are exceeding 50 MPH. This is the sustained wind at 400 feet data from the 'UAV...
I don't think I'd ever waste any time showing a paranoiac my images to assuage him. Just tell him "no, I wasn't spying on you", and ignore him.
People are making up their own idea of rules which do not bind us. Do not encourage them!
