Update: I tried the racing edition goggles and the regular DJI goggles. The latency was the same! I also have the Aspire 1, but not the Mavic Pro. From what I can tell, you only get the latency boost (lower latency) with the racing edition goggles IF you use a non DJI drone/product. So...

Sounds like you have a bad set of goggles. My first time hearing about this problem. Ship them back for a new set.

After your initial "Brand new Mavic first time setup", you don't need the phone to use the goggles. Someone else can chime in on what features might be missing. I thought I saw the map in my goggles, but I could be wrong....(I don't use/need that feature)

Update the goggle software, plug the goggles into the controller (only the goggles, not your phone), and it should work fine. If not, something might be wrong with the goggles (the left eye going out is strange).

have a question about using the DJI goggles with the Mavic Air: I use the regular (white) DJI goggles with my Mavic Air, and everything works fine. I am wondering if upgrading to the DJI Racing goggles is worth it from a latency stand point. I am only going to use the goggles with my Mavic Air...
