I live in the midwest U.S., calibrated my MP last January at home, went to central Pacific coast area of Mexico a couple weeks ago and flew for the first time there. Never needed to recalibrate.

It would depend on the beam width of the signal from the gun.

That's one reason I went with small individual hardshell cases......... 1 for the MP, 1 for the battery's, 1 for the RC and 1 for accessories. I can put them in any kind of pack or bag and go. The pelican type cases just scream "Steal me!"......... especially those plastered with drone logo...

Since I do a lot of traveling, backpacking, and biking I went with this sling pack and individual shell cases. I have another shell where I put accessories. The pack is large enough to where I can also carry a DSLR and large lens.

No....... unless you intend to use it as a phone in the future. I got mine unlocked because I was undecided about that and it might help with future resale/trade-in. To do anything else I just plug it into my PC or use my home WiFi.

I just got the S8+ as a dedicated controller. When you look at specifications for the display performance in the sun as compared to other phones and its projected lifespan against technology advancement I think it will be a long time before I will have to upgrade.

You're right. Where I work we have an awful time with vendors and their proprietary soft/hardware. Going to go with a dedicated S8+
