WooHoo, got an email from Skydio saying they are on track
for my November shipment of the Skydio 2. :)Thumbswayup
I first thought the Skydio would be in addition to my Mavic but
I doubt the mavic will be used much after seeing the videos
of the Skydio in action.
Even under manually control...
It's plenty stable as long as you hit the landing pad. The Mavic does a pretty good job at returning to it's
landing spot but it's usually a few inches off so have to manually take over right before landing if it's not centered.
Put my laser printer to work on this wood landing pad.
I actually made it in anticipation of my Skydio 2 to land on
but works great with the Mavic also.
I added some rubber feet right behind the camera on the mavic
to land on instead of landing on its front legs.
That was my concerns also. It is probably a better design as far as air lift and battery life but when I see someone hand catch this thing man those blades are right there!
I wonder if they will make a blade guard for it, maybe an aftermarket.
There first R1 was a marvel to watch as it worked its way through and around trees and other obstacles.
The Skydio 2 obstacle avoidance can only be even better with higher res cameras, lighter and more agile.
The beauty of the Skydio is throw it in the air and have it follow you without worry of it crashing with it advanced obstacle avoidance.
I will be getting the beacon controller as that is a cool accessory but not sure if I'll need the controller.
Will be keeping my Mavic as that has its own...
The magnets are interesting, we will have to wait to see how they have that set up.
I avoid wet weather, none of the drones are waterproof.
I think my first 3D project will be to build some landing legs that won't interfere with there OA.
Looks like there first November batch sold out in a day. Next batch slated for January 2020.
I got my pre order in the first day so hopefully will get one by next month.
I was impressed with the Skydio R1 but price and featured it was not quite there.
The Skydio 2 looks like they got there...
The Skydio 2 looks very promising for the price as the Skydio 1 was way over priced for what it offered.
I still see a couple areas of concern like they removed the blade guard that I thought was a good idea.
Also one video I watched it kind of flopped around while landing and almost hit the...
I am really missing the Ultra Wide FOV more and more. I am not concerned with straight lines as much. This is an action camera so the wide FOV adds character to the shots whether there curved or not.
If I wanted perfection I would buy a real top end video camera.
The wide FOV could be turned off on the GoPro but with it on it sure made for some nice selfies with a large group.
And with no front screen to help center you were always guaranteed to be in the shot. ??
