Oh Boy... some one is in trouble...

Here is a different heli (also a Bell 212) with outside view. You can see it's a good ride. I've been on a few 'running landings' after simulation autorotations and it's an interesting ride when you are in the back.

It’s mainly for safety to keep out of dead man’s curve. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helicopter_height–velocity_diagram Edited: as for fuel, mot sure of the difference. They are gas turbine powered. Throttle position is almost constant. Well, edit to add, I’m reading that forward Motion...

Mini Drone footage of central Mississippi sunset: 11/21/2020

Thank you. That is an excellent tip. I think I took some multi exposures. For the flight, I had not expected such a lovely view. So, of course, I was low on battery and was focused on the flight. I need more practice with the photography part.

    Per the FAA:

The still-shot mode on the Mavic Mini's camera, does very well for capturing more detail than the video mode.

Oh Boy... some one is in trouble...

Here is a report from 2018 covering a 3-year lookback of bird strikes on helicopters. https://verticalmag.com/news/faa-665-helicopter-bird-strikes-over-last-3-years/ Out of 665 strikes. The 3 fatalities (one crash) seem to be from cockpit penetration of more than one 4+ pound bird and loss of...

    Mavic Air 2 RTH Issue

So when does this apply for the Air 2? When using the IMU? Even when active GPS? What flight phase or condition causes the AIR 2 to "only use downward vision system for positioning?" My point above, is there is not much documentation for how various systems integrate.

    Mavic Air 2 RTH Issue

This does bring up a good point that while (those of us who are licensed) are supposed to be considered 'pilots', we don't have good documentation on the interworking subsystems on most of the drones we fly. As Nonprophet points out, they check their settings before flight. I could see were a...

Posting images with potential height violations

Good stuff looking at open sourced intelligence sources. While I strongly encourage safe and legal drone operation, I don't think it would be as easy to prove it as you say. With one photo, (without exif data) it would be hard to prove drone location. It could be a cropped photo with the...

    Howdy from the SouthEast US

I have a new Mavic Mini (original) and recently became a Part 107 pilot. I've been a long-time aviation buff and hobby photographer. Also, much of my drone interest is for use during disaster recovery and also search and rescue. I currently live in the SouthEast US and also spent a couple of...
