Davinci Resolve: PERF diffs of Free vs. Studio for H.265

The studio version will certainly be faster and smoother, because it uses GPU hardware acceleration for many things (not just encode/decode) and the free one doesn't use GPU acceleration for anything. However, you might run into issues with the GPU memory getting full with only a 4GB card and...

    Czech Republic in 4K :)

I really like how you matched the cuts and speed with the music, really enhanced the experience!

Mavic 2 Pro filming in Difficult lighting H265 / H264

Mac OS High Sierra (10.13) released Sept 2017 supports H265 (Apple calls it HEVC). Check your OS version. You should be able to upgrade for free if you're running something less than the latest (10.14.4).

    California Superbloom 2019 Video

Wow, the wild flowers up here in NorCal are out in force too, but nothing like that! I'm coming down to LA at the end of next month, I hope they stay around for me.

    First (public) video

Yes. It was shot in 10bit dlog H265 with a mavic 2 pro. In Resolve I set the white&black points and applied the free DJI LUT as a starting point. Then I applied some dehaze, distortion correction, overall exposure and contrast adjustments, added some mid-tone contrast and a few other tweaks as...

I think most of the credit can go to the scenery :)

Thanks! I wish I knew the story behind them. I'm guessing the farm owner put them there, maybe as erosion control? I had scouted the area the week before (too windy to fly), but did not see them the first time I went down that road. I just happened to glance over at the creek as I went over...

    First (public) video

Finished editing my first video that I feel good enough about to share outside of family :-) Started with 1.5 hrs of footage, rough cut it down to 20 mins, then 8 mins, until finally 6. Then I added audio (2 tracks of ambient sounds, 2 tracks for music mixing) and tweaked some of the cuts to...

Davinci Resolve Studio is worth it (to me)!

I was hoping for more rendering performance switching to studio. Today I discovered that I need to use the nvidia rendering engine, now my videos render at near realtime, double what I was getting before and almost 3 times faster than the free version. BTW, Resolve 16 is to be announced on...

Davinci Resolve Studio is worth it (to me)!

Oh wow, I did not know about that optimized media trick, that's good to know! I was able to render in 4k in the free version, even for youtube (the preset is for 1080p, but you can change it).

Davinci Resolve Studio is worth it (to me)!

Resolve is considerably more capable than Premiere Elements, but it is also considerably more complex to learn and use. I've watched hours of tutorial videos on youtube and frequently have to google how to do things when I'm using it, but I'm slowly expanding my knowledge of it. Premiere...

Davinci Resolve Studio is worth it (to me)!

I don't know about Power Director, but I did find this info on their website that would indicate they do support hardware acceleration: Customer Support - How do I enable hardware acceleration feature in CyberLink PowerDirector? | CyberLink Maybe you need to enable it, but also they might only...

Davinci Resolve Studio is worth it (to me)!

I have an Nvidia 1080, I'm not sure if they have hardware support for the intel integrated graphics, it might only be available for discrete cards. The rendering is hardware accelerated too, as are many of the effects (they have a little gpu indicator next to them in the list if they are -...
