I have not done any work on the mavic, but on the fpv drones I build I do use hot glue on the wires after soldering them in, as strain relief in the event of a crash and electrical isolation.

As above, I agree with the cord / side port as a major player in the connectivity issues, I experienced similar when I bought my mpp. As to the magnetic interference, were you wearing a metal watch? I had to stop wearing mine when I wanted to fly due to the sensors picking it up.

I use the Note 9 on my mpp. I do love the size of the screen and the brightness. As above, the slider retaining clip on the cable not worth the frustration. Experienced multiple drops / lost connection initially. Updated phone, problems smoothed out. Android update last month, no recent issues...
