This is called perspective distortion. It's law of physics and will appear on photos taken by the best lens on this planet with the exception for tilt-shift lens.
When there is no wind, which is the case here, the tilt direction should be the same as the direction of travel. The difference between the two directions is the yaw error. It can be seen that at the beginning, the yaw error was about 180 degrees so the craft flew almost straight away.

Its better to check the wind direction and speed with the tilt indicator of the GO app. Take the drone up to the flying altitude above head, hover there and observe the direction and magnitude of tilt. The more the tilt, the stronger the wind. Its far more reliable than any forecast.

One thing you can try is to set the home point to somewhere away the bridge and the RTH height to be lower than the bridge so that if disconnection occurs, the drone will automatically get out by itself. Of course you have to make sure that the GPS signal will be good enough under the bridge.
Whether the drone can remain connected in the presence of obstacles depends very much on the environment. I have tested it with my M2P in FCC mode inside my apartment. With the drone placed in a room and me holding the controller, disconnection occurred as soon as I got out of the apartment...
Double battery .......
Check out the battery mod threads in this forum. This is a cheap way to do it. Sorry its not in English but you can get an idea :
One of the cells in the battery had the voltage dropped to an abnormally low level so the craft could not make it home. Autolanding should have happened but for unknown reasons it didn't. As the battery was in an abnormal state it's hard to project when it became depleted and the drone fell out...
