    Drone vs. aircraft wing testing

Thanks, Sar, you have now completed my argument. You agree that fixed wing/moving wing scenarios are not the same, which was the point I was making. I note that you are very good at the straw man mode of argument, i.e. say something I never said or implied and then refute it, e.g. I never said...

    Drone vs. aircraft wing testing

Just because you say it is so does not make it so. Density is not the issue here, that just affects the degree of action. That there is action can be seen from the laminar flow lines around an aerofoil, which when generating lift, i.e. has an angle of incidence or camber, these lines flow from...

    Drone vs. aircraft wing testing

Well Sar, you have to look at the context of the response. I responded to someone saying that it was the same if the wing was stationary or moving. Clearly that is not the case. As for the the over comment. If you aim the drone at a moving wing leading edge ( as was clearly the case in the...

    Drone vs. aircraft wing testing

A 1st degree in Maths and aeronautics perhaps shows some knowledge of the subject. What are your qualifications?

    Drone vs. aircraft wing testing

No it does make a difference. If the wing is moving it is generating lift, which would tend to suck a projectile over the wing.

    New member from Amsterdam

Hi Mark, welcome! There is a separate thread for posting pics and videos, which is well used. As an aside I see none of you pics are in or around Amsterdam. Having lived there for some years it would be nice to se some local pics/vids.

Video shows devastating damage drones can inflict on planes

On a technical note, there is a problem with this experiment. The setup does not simulate what would happen in reality. In this demonstration a drone is fired at the leading edge of a stationary wing. I.e the wing has no airflow over it. Also the target it the exact leading edge of the wing...

    Coordinated turns

Agree its the only way to sports fly. Another difference with fixed wings is that on a fixed wing, especially gliders, turns require bank and up elevator as well as coordinated rudder. But on a quad... I have a MA as well you do not need any up as the flight controller keeps the heigh, so all...

    West Sussex beach flying

"Flying from" is taking off and landing, once in the air, so long as you comply with the regulations you are not restricted, so as long as you do not try to land at dead high water, you have plenty of time and space for what you need.

    Post your Bird shots

I caught a lucky video of a Red Kite in Shropshire. It came to investigate something flying in its patch and chance had it come directly into camera, I couldn't have framed a better shot had I realised it was there, which I didn't until reviewing the clip.
