I was concerned with proximity of BBC Airport as well. So I actually started searching online and came across this:
Drone Information
I was so happy to see that the airport manager is pro-drone (quads) and wants to encourage safe flying/usage. That's why all the flying you see here were done...
Thanks.
The music is from epidemic sounds. (I have a subscription with them so I can use their boat-load of music for youtube under their licensing plan.) The song is: Rainbow Falling by Johan Glossner. They also have an all-instrumental version that I use sometimes for other vids...
I had a chance to go up to Big Bear Lake in August. Just finally got around to make a quick/short video clip of the flight around the lake.
Thanks for watching. It was shot in 4k.
Here's the funny (and sad) thing. When I bought my Mavic, I was still using my 2-year old HTC phone so the connection was reversed. So I had to buy the reverse micro usb cable. My connection with the quadcopter and phone app was horrible (very unreliable). The RC never lost connection.
Then...
You can go into the settings and have the Mavic shoot *.DNG. I have it shooting both jpg and dng at the same time. If/when the in-camera jpg looks good, then I just toss the dng. Otherwise, I just open the dng file in Lightroom and process it.
Image was shot in RAW and I imported it into Lightroom and did some editing (mostly just recovering the shadows and through in a light graduated filter for the skies to reduce the exposure a hair, reducing highlights and added some clarity).
I love how the Mavic (or any quadcopter really) offers us a different perspective when it comes to shots like these. :)
I'm going to have to try and find time to learn to tweak the settings faster so that I can keep a more consistent setting with video. But this was a still photo shot...
400 feet. :D
A nice marine layer rolled in this afternoon. Sent her up for a scouting report, kept my fingers crossed. And I cleared the clouds(fog) just below 400'.
As you've learned the hard way, the Mavic tries to hover but the air current its own rotors generate are too strong and will push it around with ease. The Mavic lacks sufficient sensors to provide enough data to hover indoors unless it's a large space/warehouse where it's own rotor wash won't...
