There are many apps with actual wind speed data pretty much all over the world. That said in many places turbulence and terrain will have a significant impact I use my drone from a boat 99% of the time so I am a bit more conservative when it comes to wind and avoid flying it over 15/18 knots...

I often get the strong wind warning but only on sports mode. For some reason I ve never gotten it in normal mode. I avoid flying once the wind hits 12 to 15 kts. Use common sense... fly upwind first to save battery power for trip back home...

As a licensed pilot, I would argue than flying an aircraft below 500’ is far more irresponsible than using a drone beyond VLOS at 100 to 200’ altitude. But what do I know.

Range without controllers is very limited and only a fraction of what the mini2 can reach. Personally I don’t see the point. When I had a spark, I never used it without the controller. Usually takes longer for the drone to acquire GPS than to set up the remote and phone.

Farthest I ve flown it is 10500’ - 3200 m. In sports mode, only spent a couple of minutes shooting what I wanted and landed with 20%. Had a 10 mph head wind on the way back

I have never heard of an iPhone being able to charge anything, it s usually the other way around. Mine doesn’t drain while flying. When is the last time you turned off and restarted the phone ?

I always put my iPhone in airplane mode to avoid any interruption or interference.

Regardless of the sensor issue and odd data, which is a very interesting discussion, those who read the thread and may fly over water need to understand that precautions need to be taken. yes sensors may fail or send conflicting data but the problem is that you have no safety net when flying...

what makes you say that the MM2 downs fluke flying glow over water? I would think the sensors would be similar to other drones. I ve had a few close calls over the years with various drones sweeping down a little too low for comfort over water. I really wish DJI would add a minimum altitude...

mate you saying that the software will let you take off in restricted airspace and then just land the drone anywhere? Would not make sense
