Getting arrested. But found a cool spot

Travelling in Scotland, UK at the moment. Flying my Mavic Pro wherever the 'no drone' signs aren't and the weather allows. Only seen two 'no drone' locations, both heavy tourist traffic locations, one in built up areas so not unreasonable. One site allowed drones before or after their open...

    RC keeps disconnecting

Thanks for the tips, I'm relatively new to drone flight so any passed on knowledge/experience is always of use and much appreciated. If you ever need some tips about flying at minus 35 celsius I've some experience with that in various communities in the Canadian Arctic.

    RC keeps disconnecting

Thanks for the patch cable tip, I suspected it was the short DJI cable causing the problem. Tried a USB-A / USB-C cable and disconnect problem solved. Just in time for our trip to your part of the globe next week.

    RC keeps disconnecting

I've been experiencing a similar intermittent disconnect problem (Mavic Pro). It happens when the the drone is in flight or sitting ready for takeoff. The controller screen (smart phone) goes to black and white with a 'Disconnected' message and the other indicator is the forward obstacle...

    What are "polar areas"?

I've flown my Mavic Pro in Resolute Bay, Nunavut, (74'45" degrees north) and in Chesterfield Inlet, Nunavut(63' North). Both times were in winter conditions, colder than minus 30 Celsius. GPS Satellites weren't the problem, the cold was the greatest factor, both for the drone and the...

    Law enforcement question?

I'm a retired police officer in Canada. I'm a drone pilot (Mavic), former member of our underwater recovery team (13 years) and ten years of Marine Enforcement in my 40 year career. Our laws are similar particularly for drone pilots. There are two trump cards in your hypothetical...

Turn props off in mid-air for fast descent (and on again :-)

Out of an abundance of caution I would not risk my drone for the sake of saving a few seconds of descent time. Others with big wallets that like to live on the wild side will likely attempt this if only for the bragging rights no matter the outcome. Which raises the question, "How high will it...

    Drone shot down in UK.

I agree. I have no knowledge of the current state of legislation regarding fox hunts in GB but it sounds like quite a mess. We have our own pro / anti hunting groups here in Canada mostly divided along city vs rural lines. Personally, I hunt with a camera because my wife doesn't like what...

    Drone shot down in UK.

Great information, Thanks. We are on a self driven circle tour for 3 weeks, driving clockwise from Glasgow, staying with friends we haven't met yet, (B&B's).

Mavic air crashes into sea (salt water), ‘Motor obstructed’ error. Pls advise.. TIA (CLOSED)

Many years ago I was an underwater photography instructor, using Nikon Nikonos cameras which would occasionally flood, as did the electronic flash units. We would immediately soak them in a bath of Methyl Alcohol (Rubbing Alcohol) which we carried with us to the dive site, along with a sealable...

    Harassed while flying drones

I would be looking for a co-pilot that is a former NFL Linebacker to be there as your Spotter. Should solve the size issue. And yes, some people go out of their way to be perfect sphincters, and to others it comes naturally.

    Drone shot down in UK.

I'll be travelling in Scotland in May and will bring my drone for great aerial shots of old castles, Nessie, and other things we don't find in the New World. Should I be worried?

    Osmos mobile users ?

My son, an Avionics Tech in the Air Force has an Osmo. He researched before buying and would not use an Iphone with the Osmo due to conflicts with the image stabilization in the Iphone which can't be turned off. I have a Huawei phone with my Osmo 2 and have had no problems.
