How many drones should one keep?

I agree with Dale, doing the updates and battery maintenance on 2 drones is enough for me. Granted every DJI drone update is positive, but if you have a capable drone or 2, how much ability are you really gaining?

    Drones after storage

Charging and discharging the batteries will keep them alive. I learned the hard way. I haven't been flying much lately so I will charge my batteries fully then go out to the park (a local dam) and practice basic moves from a high vantage port. I fly until I get around 30 % left with each...

    New Requirements from Recreational Flyers?!

Yeah it does seem like there making it harder, but I think the issue is people like Jclarkw who is likely responsible, don't actually know there are rules for flying. I have met a few flyers that have never realized there are restrictions and rules. I wonder, how many drones are not registered...

Reminder, even if you have 1000's of hours flying.... it just takes one missed check....

I flew my 2s into a tree doing a building progress contract. Wrecked two props and had a soft tumble into some grass. It was late winter so the trees weren't in bloom and I was flying sideways looking at the screen not the drone . No sideway Obstacle Avoidance ( I doubt it would have seen the...

Going to Hawaii in Sept, here's what I decided to take

The officer knew he couldn't give me a summons for flying my drone so he said he would give me a parking ticket, because I was parking to fly instead of just stopping for a quick view. (lol) I decided it wasn't worth arguing with him so I just left. No voices were raised, and he did not write me...

Going to Hawaii in Sept, here's what I decided to take

It wasn't that spot. I would have respect a posting. But local authorities can restrict where you launch from, but not where you fly. The only authority is the FAA. With some exceptions, National & State parks. But technically only the launch point. I have gotten permission to fly in some state...

Going to Hawaii in Sept, here's what I decided to take

I was in Hawaii last year and had my share of trouble flying . I was confronted by police for attempting to fly in a non restricted zone ( a scenic pull off). I had checked for restrictions and found none but he finally said he would give me a parking ticket . I HAD MY MINI 2 ne had a gun, so I...

Has it all been worth it?

As a retired professional photographer, (turned competitive photographer), I contemplated getting a drone back in 2014 when I was a member of a local photo club. But they really weren't ready. Fast forward to 2021 I decided to get one to get a different perspective on my photography. I also...

Drone Licence for the European Union

I am guilty of not reading the above post ,so I may have duplicated or contradicted some of the other comments.

Drone Licence for the European Union

Have a good time. I go to the UK and greater Europe a lot and to my knowledge you have done all the right things. Remember to use the same common sense and be aware of the "No Fly" zones, which usually includes the major landmarks and city centers. But using good common sense you can still get...

does the mavic air 2 work without cell service

I have had that issue if I haven't flown in a month or so. You won't need to log in for every flight. Just good practice to log in before you leave home or before you are out of cell range. It's also good to check the area you may be flying in using ALOFT to see the weather and possible...

Drone Licence for the European Union

Wow ! lots of information and I hope you realize that in the EU and most other countries you are better off with a sub 250g drone. The UK is the easiest and has the most freedom, however localities do have a variety of restrictions. In the EU you don't need to register a sub 250g if it doesn't...

2S for photography and with Smart Controller in 2025?

I use the air 2s commercially as well as for my personal Photography. The one-inch sensor 20mp is very good and if doing stills, I use Topaz Gigapixel 2x and have made very good 20 x 30 prints. I also shoot 4k30 but usually render at 1080. The only drone I would consider upgrading to is one...

Batteries slightly swelling after flight...cause of concern?

I had the swelling issue with my air 2s batteries and replaced them with Refurbished units from a Authorized DJI dealer . Over a year ago. The interesting part was I got a 2 year warrantee on the batteries . All is well so far. I have always charged my camera batteries to 100% for storage, and...
