LETS SEE YOUR BEST PICS OR VIDEOS

The windward O'ahu coast from off of Makapuu Pt. (See www.oahupictures.org for the collection of videos and stills I am building of as much of the island's shoreline as can be covered under LAANC rules).

First criminal prosecution under a drone registration law

I received Airmap authorization to fly yesterday evening, but my controller showed I was in a NFZ. Furthermore, the DJI Geozones map still shows the old configuration of NFZs. What’s up with that?

Anyone fly in salty air and have issues over time?

I videoed all of the allowable airspace on the shoreline of the island of Oahu over the course of about three years (first with a Phantom 4, then with an MP and an MP2) and noticed no issues due to salty air.

Low flying aircraft outside the realm of airports, etc. Reason to worry?

When I lived until recently on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, marines would fly helicopters below 200’ (over the water). A guy from the marine base told me they didn’t have a clue about drones.

Why does the FAA use the phrase "in line of sight" when it would have been clearer to say "in sight" if that's really what they mean?

My comment was about the simple phrase “visual line of sight.” Without reading all the FAA explanation, the phrase alone is confusing. If a pilot were to look only at the brief instructions that are widely available on the web, the phrase could be misleading. The short version of what I said...

Why does the FAA use the phrase "in line of sight" when it would have been clearer to say "in sight" if that's really what they mean?

I concur with the objection to the line-of-sight wording. The online definition that I just now retrieved is "1 : a line from an observer's eye to a distant point. 2 : the line between two points." Adding "visual" doesn't help; what other kind of sight is there? Without searching for the FAA's...

    Hawaii Filter Advice?

I lived on Oahu for 4+ decades until just a few weeks ago and was into drone photography and videography with Phantoms and Mavics (most recently the Pro 2) since 2016. I misplaced my filters while I was filming with an ND 32; I continued to fly the Mavic 2 with the 32 and did fine. (See...

How is it that I am allowed to fly in a no-fly zone?

I have not recorded the coordinates when this has occurred, and unless I was missing something, the type of NFZ was not specified. The app simply said "No fly zone" in the upper left. (It did not ask me whether I had permission to fly.) Given all the posts on this forum about the app...

How is it that I am allowed to fly in a no-fly zone?

Irrespective of whether I am actually in a NFZ that's shown in the DJI GeoZones or whether I understand the Part 107 rules, the question remains as to how it is my drone will take off when it shows that I am in a NFZ.

How is it that I am allowed to fly in a no-fly zone?

This happened on the island of Oahu with a Mavic Pro 2. As far as I can recall, the app simply says No Fly Zone. I’ve been just outside the NFZs but not actually in them. I’ve had other occasions when I have to say I have permission to fly without it saying I’m in a NFZ, but that’s not what...

How is it that I am allowed to fly in a no-fly zone?

How is it that I am allowed to fly in a no-fly zone? I have read many posts on this forum about not being able to fly when in a DJ no-fly zone, but there have been several occasions when my app says that I’m in a no-fly zone but I am still allowed to take off. How can that be?
