    Flying when it's overcast

That's the "Ceiling & Visiblity" page, a product I'm not very fond of either. The "Observations" page and the "METAR/TAF data" page are my two favorites. Sometimes I visit the "Winds" page because the text briefing provided with my flight plan has only limited enroute information.

    Flying when it's overcast

For a more professional preflight briefing, include this website as one of your sources of information, and zoom in to your region: https://aviationweather.gov/gfa/#obs This plots the official METAR observations on a map in real time, and it will be very clear where the reports came from.

NYC Hilton hit by drone at 3am. Hotel guest identified as operator.

So the drone crashed at 3 am and the pilot waited 7 hours to call 911? Trying to sober up first?

Self Flying AI Drones are Transforming Warehouses.

Here's an idea.. sell the drone and mount a solar-powered RFID scanner to the shelf instead.

    Flying when it's overcast

Let me help clear this up. If there is a cloud directly above the drone, then the drone must have 500 ft of vertical clearance. The horizontal limit does not apply when flying 500 ft below the cloud, unless you are dealing with two layers of clouds. If there is a cloud to the side of the...

Air 3s Max Take Off Mass

Did they ever publish this for the 2S for comparison?

    0.55 lbs Rule in USA

Thanks @msinger It's something I've seen maybe in the 107 recurrent training but it never comes up in Google searches. Going to save that in my UAS folder for easier reference.

    0.55 lbs Rule in USA

Is the 0.55 lbs limit for recreational flying without registration just a policy advertised on the FAA website, or is it a regulation or federal code of some kind? The reason behind the question is that 49 USC 44809 only says, "registered and marked in accordance with chapter 441 of this...

    Still no Anti-Collision Light?

I'm just shocked the latest aircraft design Air 3 doesn't have required night flying equipment on board. That's one of the drawbacks I would consider at this price point.

    Dangerous legislation in Missouri

I just found this gem in the April update of the FAA AIM: 11-4-6(g) There can be certain local restrictions to airspace. While the FAA is designated by federal law to be the regulator of the NAS, some state and local authorities may also restrict access to local airspace. UAS pilots should be...

    MTOM FOR MAVIC PRO M1X

Interesting bit of jargon I noticed in the April update of the FAA AIM: "... civil UAS 55 pounds or more Maximum Gross Operating Weight (MGOW). These operations will be referred to as Part 91 UAS operations ..." The term MGOW is used several times in the new chapter, except for a military...

    MTOM FOR MAVIC PRO M1X

I think there could be a more robust discussion about this. With the introduction of anti-collision lighting and Remote ID requirements, accessorizing an aircraft is a must in routine operations. Just because the manufacturer hasn't tested or stated the MTOW doesn't mean it's automatically...

    Battery weight on flights

Battery weight is listed in the User Manual published by DJI. For example, the Air 2S battery is 198 g. This is not a "lithium metal" type battery.

SD Card Readable in Drone But NOT with SD Card to USB Adapter

I recently had a SanDisk USB card reader fail with similar symptoms. It simply never worked again, and my cards were fine. I've found the SD adapter is much more reliable than the USB adapter.

Air 2L how to change the flight control from banking turns to level turns?

This is great info! I made a video with banking turns in January and couldn't figure out how I did it or how to reproduce the effect when recording or not recording. I will be sure to study the FPV settings on the next flight.
