I think in the very near future, (small) drones will be relegated to a very specific altitude and/or elevation range. Say between 200 - 400 feet. The reason being is that very soon there will be MILLIONS of drones plying the skies. It will be critical to keep the "real" air traffic free of any...
Watch a lot of the drone regulation (and people who [Admin Removed] about drones buzzing around) go out the window when big business starts flying them all over the neighborhood. VLOS will be the first to go...
I think some ppl are missing the point that cops showed up at his house. That's a fairly disproportionate response to an errant drone flight. I went up to 1,000 feet the other night (software glitch? ;). Should I expect a visit?
"Congress, appropriately in my opinion, decided to be proactive for once."

When big business (Amazon) gets involved, all supposed restrictions for protection will magically disappear. Once the lobbyists start greasing palms and campaigns, drone flights will suddenly be "safe and minimally...
OP never stated his drone was outside VLOS.
You have a potential 180 degree FOV from an open window and would not be violating any laws or recommendations for a safe flight. A lot of propeller heads here seem to assume OP was flying illegally, which has not been proven.
There are many "Good...
It is DJI's fault.
A small drain can be accomplished without the accessory actually charging the host. Is the controller the host? Or the accessory? For example a USB camera with it's own power supply (I have a few) does not charge the Android device. A small (tiny) current is present and all...
I'll
Tried this. Unfortunately, you need the power wire present for Android to recognize a device is connecting. The part that is missing is software that will prevent the controller from attempting to charge the phone.
Camera and gimbal cover scratching are known issues with the factory supplied cover. This may have been addressed for later units?
Regardless, why not put the felt on the gimbal protector instead of the camera? I just used masking tape on mine and seems to prevent further scratching.
For...
Does anybody know where I can find the fantastic, magical yet elusive "Data Only" USB cable (micro USB to USB C) or (micro USB to micro USB)
Supposedly this fixes the asinine "controller charging Android phone" issue that DJI refuses to address.
Shouldn't the DJI cables be data only? I wonder where I could find a USB data cable? That would work with this.
I ended up buying a mini iPad for the time being. But this seriously is stupid.
This is asinine on DJI's part. They advertise it as Android compatible, but there is no solution to the issue even after years of complaints. Wake up DJI! Android commands about half of all devices in the US and elsewhere.
DJI has ignored this issue long enough! I can't use my $2 k drone more...
