    U.S. Secret Service Visit

How did you even manage to get the bird into the air..? The DJI app tends to err on the cautious side when it comes to no-fly restrictions.

    why 1400 ft max altitude?

To me the bizarre aspect of the reg is that you can stand on top of a hill, and fly your drone legally 400' above, but the moment your drone moves laterally you need to lower its altitude as it hovers over the surrounding valleys - in that scenario the drone can even be below you and you are in...

Helicopter crashes in only open space

The R44 may be even worse than other helicopters, but all of them are outdated design in my opinion. I wholeheartedly disagree with your assessment that drone-type multicopter aircraft will get to see accident rates anywhere near fixed-wing airplanes or helicopters (which have an even higher...

Helicopter crashes in only open space

A heli can be stalled just like an airplane can be stalled by operating error - the difference I'm talking about is a design that generally allows the rotating blades of a helicopter to cut off its own tail. I have no idea if that applies to few, many or all helicopters, but I find that...

Helicopter crashes in only open space

The fact that a helicopter can essentially knock itself out of the sky via boom strike is a design flaw that does not exist in a drone design. Obviously any drone for person transportation needs to be at least a hexcopter and as such in the event of one motor issue will be much safer to control...

Helicopter crashes in only open space

I'm convinced that helicopters will be replaced by drone-like aircraft in the future. The NTSB DB is full of helicopter crashes. They're harder to to control than fixed wing airplanes; it shouldn't have to be that way - it's an outdated aircraft design.

    STOLEN

Very sorry about that loss of yours! I'm sure the truck will be found sooner or later; your gear will obviously be much easier for them to turn into cash - monitor the usual marketplaces people use (eBay, Craigslist, Facebook etc.) and see if you can find any items that look suspiciously like...

Mavic 3 landed on Karen's Roof : here is why !

I think he said he had operated it in Sports mode. The faster you go, the less one should rely on the collision avoidance sensors

Law Officer Claims My TRUST DOCUMENT Fake?

Reminds me of the time when the FAA sent newly minted pilots their pilot license in paper form to literally cut out (not even pre-perforated), that was still the case until 9/11. You should probably bring your experience to the attention of the FAA; they need to know and provide guidance on how...

    Greetings from Seattle

Correct, I have only one drone at this time - the M2 -, and it's registered. The registration link you gave me says "Drones registered under part 107 [which is what I did] may be flown for recreational purposes as well as under part 107". (The registration type can be changed anytime btw - for...

    Greetings from Seattle

Thanks! I don't think that's entirely correct - having the Part 107 certificate does not make me have to register any drone. I can fly an unregistered <250g drone like the Mini/2 for "fun and enjoyment only", and not make use of any of my Part 107 privileges (i.e. getting paid in any form), and...

    Greetings from Seattle

Hi there - new Mini 2 owner (my first actually controllable drone; before that I had a $30 mall toy that was very hard to control and more frustrating than fun). I have both the new FAA TRUST certificate (super-easy to get + free) for those "mandatory fun" recreational flights, and Part 107 UAS...
