Flying my Air 2S ... and another pilot launching his Mavic 3 at the same time! A discussion on deconfliction

We have six of us in a local group that fly together regularly and have done for two years. Usually three of us will be in the air at once and 3 will be observing. We have never even come close to having a mid air collision so your one-on-one with your heightened awareness would keep you safe...

DJI Mini 3 pro - and new UK laws?

Believe me the Mini 3 Pro packs a punch for it's size. I would be very surprised if you came across a limitation that prevented you from getting the footage and quality you want

DJI Mini 3 pro - and new UK laws?

IMO you cannot go wrong with a Mini 3 PRO at this moment in time. Although sub 250g it can hold its own in the wind alongside an Air 2s and you are permitted to fly over people and property. The camera is also amazing. 2026 is a long way off in technology terms and a lot can, and indeed will...

Remove altitude limits for mini 3

Ok thanks for explaining, I understand now. The DJi Flysafe website allows you to requst a customised unlock of the zone . I assume it works for all countries but it works in the UK. You request permission from the ATC for the field you mention who will grant it i'm sure. Then you follow the...

Remove altitude limits for mini 3

The zones are in place for very real safety reasons. If you can't fly responsibly don't fly at all

    Point of Interest with hyperlapse?

Yes you can, give it a try :)

    Point of Interest with hyperlapse?

Depends on the drone but I have a Mini 3 pro and you can set up a hyperlapse with quite a few waypoints and save that setup so you can run the hyperlapse mission repeatedly which is what you need :)

Is it worth getting a drone (for photos) when there are few places to fly in the UK?

Good post. If you are responsible and use your common sense in any given situation you are unlikely to go astray.

Is it worth getting a drone (for photos) when there are few places to fly in the UK?

I have looked at their policy and their so called bylaw which is very weaselly worded and a lawyer would drive a bus through it. Key point is they do not own the airspace and there is only a small restricted airspace in the whole of the Peak District around a glider club. They can only prevent...

What goes into a manned Pilot getting an instrument rating to fly? What do drones lack that prevents them from being instrument rated?

Totally agree and I was quick to dismiss any comparison. My point was maybe not to clear and there should be no comparison between drones and piloted aircraft. After all they put their lives on the line when they fly. My point was to highlight how ridiculously OTT the regulations are on sub...

What goes into a manned Pilot getting an instrument rating to fly? What do drones lack that prevents them from being instrument rated?

I'm second guessing what Don's question is driving at so forgive me if i'm wrong. First off I have flown light aircraft and Ralph is correct; its in a completely different league and we should not even think about that comparison. What I think we can consider is the regulations with regards to...

    Mini 3

The Mini 3 pro has a better camera sensor, Obstacle avoidance and active track. I also think there will be more features to come (eg waypoints have been introduces in the Mavic 3 and could be added to the Mini 3 Pro). If you can afford the difference I think it would be worth it for you.

MasterAirScrew for the Mini 3 Pro

I have them on the mini2 and they are attractive and definitely quieter. I tend to ignore the claim for an extra minute or two on the battery. I don't fly that close to the margins. For the Mini 3, again attractive colours and more visible but I wouldn't say an quieter, in fact a slightly...

    Authorization???

I can't account for every type of phone. Look at your controller wifi settings and see if it is connected to your phone. If it is then I don't know what the problem is. If not then you need to find the way to connect it. Plenty of YouTube videos to help if you're still stuck.
