The phone doesn't connect to the aircraft, it connects to the RC. It is doing this or you wouldn't be receiving the message. Try re-linking the aircraft and remote. That is where the connection is missing.

I just did the same thing. Ended up having to land 2.5 blocks away on the side of a road. After letting the battery cool and charge everything seems to be working fine.

He's using an s8 with no cell service, therefore, no GPS. He also has an active cell phone to receive calls. I fly using a tablet with no GPS. When connected to my phone's hotspot it shows my phone's GPS.

Set up a hotspot on your phone Then use wifi on the s8 to connect to said hotspot. The s8 will use your phone's GPS.

Every place you mentioned is in a National Park. It is illegal to fly there.
