    Flying when it's overcast

You have rules and then you have common sense flying. The idea is to keep away from situations that would cause a collision with something you cant see or cant clearly see you. I guess the strict interpretation says no but drones are used in storms for search and rescue so at some point you have...

DJI Flip drone confirmed by the FCC

This looks like a fantastic option, looking forward to the announcement. If it's under 250g, it will be the first entry into the Category 1 for flight over people. The mini, with prop guards, is too heavy for the class. So, this would meet the requirements for guarded props and weight...

    Conflicted with drone purchase decisions

If money is tight, then no drone is going to be the right fit. They are fun but not a need to have. I sold my Mavic 3 Pro because I needed to take care of a few things. When I'm ready to buy again, I will be going back to the Air series. It's plenty for my needs.

    Photo Import

No, not really. I started pulling the files off the drone wirelessly which worked fine but if I pulled the SD card photos app never saw the files.

    ? About Assigning Buttons

I prefer the left button to move the gimbal full up or down or center and the right for cruise. Camera is easy enough to use on the right side of the display. It’s not something I would do mid video anyhow.

Remote ID - in the EU?

Ask around, 99% (maybe more) of the world has no idea what remote ID is and the chances of it being a real issue for anyone is slim. If you operate reasonably, without directly aggravating people, most will not care at all that you’re even around. With a mini, you barely even hear it right above...

    Mavic 3 Filter Use

You want to bracket this shot so you expose for the highlights and shadows in one final shot. With the Mavic 3 variable aperture, you can almost get away with never using ND filters but they can be handy when you want to be more artistic.

Buying Avata 2 vs using my Air 3 in FPV Questions

Not to mention protecting the environment around the drone. Avata will hardly make a mark, hit something with the Air 3 and it will likely cause some damage. Not something you want if the purpose is commercial work. It happens but you want to avoid it.

Air 2 First flight after a long break (it's my newborn daughter's fault! JK) - Zegrze Południowe, Poland.

Everyone is free to express creativity in their own way but my preference is to avoid obvious transitions unless it’s somehow part of the scene. Day to night, inside to outside, things like that where you want to see both at the same time for a short period. Otherwise, jump cut.

Buying Avata 2 vs using my Air 3 in FPV Questions

The main difference in the two is that the Air 3 is a camera drone and the Avata is an FPV drone. Two different categories of drones. With the exposed props and dependence on GPS, the Air 3 will be fine out in the open but the closer you get to objects and especially indoors the worse it’s going...

Air 3 Tornado Approaching Hendersonville, TN

Great photos and glad you guys made it though ok. We didn’t see much from the storm here in west TN but followed along as news came this way about you guys. Always hate to hear towns in the area being destroyed by storms and they seem to be getting more powerful/common over time.

    DJI, Apple and Android

I read it as 3rd party apps. Meaning, the API they offer to tap into the DJI logic will only be supported on Android. I dont think it means they are stopping the iOS Fly App which is 1st party.

Freewell ND Filter Test with Hyperlapse

You guys should try it. If you shoot moving vehicles at night with an ND filter, you can get a slow enough shutter to control the light trails for the passing cars. ND filters are usable at night and should be experimented with. Here is just one example from dronexfactor. I know this is a...

    ADS-B on M3

Not all planes are required to broadcast ADS-B, especially small private planes. The best option is to do the best you can with awareness of the area. Side note, the Mini 3 Pro does not have ADS-B either but they are flown all the time without issue.

    Airmap Gone

I have not needed to submit much lately but AutoPylot is what I am using now.
