    Active Track Danger

Actually I'm going slow, watch my videos with the Typhoon H, Solo, Anafi... I'm going much faster and they hold a proper seperation. This is far from industry standard and dangerous. DJI claims Active Track speeds up to 44.7 MPH, I'm barley going 10 MPH. Here's a Typhonn H going nearly 40 MPH...

    Active Track Danger

Litchi Follow Me is a disaster and AT not far behind. Litchi did offer dynamic altitude with the original GO app which was nice; actually the P3 with GO is a step up in Follow from GO4 and Active Track.

    Active Track Danger

While processing power on the device is important it cannot make up for the fact there is no GPS positioning feedback from the subject. Skydio R1 does a fantastic job at optical tracking, well ahead of dji but still not perfect.

Mavic 2 crash in active track

Mavic uses optical recognition for tracking (gimbal/camera). Not using GPS for XY and a subject mounted baro for Z makes for sloppy follow.

Mavic 2 crash in active track

This would be a proper demonstration of AT from different angles. The OP video shows AT hunting, wide altitude fluctuations and inconsistent distance from the subject. When an AT attack starts the drone starts to pause then lunges towards the subject, you can see this in the OP video...

Mavic 2 crash in active track

Exactly why you need more data for proper follow, sensors are not reliable. GPS and a barometer make a big difference.

Mavic 2 crash in active track

Active Track with DJI products has always been poor IMO. Assuming VPS was functional it should have prevented the crash; although, the sand may have been difficult to get a good reading on. I've owned many DJI drones with AT 1.0 and heard ÀT 2.0 is better but I'm not seeing it. The M2 has a...

Attack Of The Killer Mavic Pro 2

I have had Active Track 1.0 attacks for years across the DJI line(MP1, P4...). I had hoped AT 2.0 would be better with the additional camera and 3D vision. My channel has many attacks similar to yours and I feel the best thing to do is be prepared to take over.

How does the Mavic measure it’s height?

I use to pack open cell foam around the baro sensor on my APM boards. Spinning the quad in the wind would cause it to rise and fall with changing pressures.

How does the Mavic measure it’s height?

You'd be surprised. Here's a P4 drifting 20 feet vertically in strong winds. The object of dynamic altitude is to maintain altitude in relation to the subject. Advanced follow drones like Halo require an altitude calibration between the device and drone each flight. Halo can follow up a steep...

How does the Mavic measure it’s height?

A little side note. The on board baro is used for altitude calculations and VPS is used when close to the ground to terrain follow. VPS is not effective at higher speeds or in high winds when flying at a high angle. High winds can affect the baro reading causing altitude fluctuations. Many...

    iPad Mini 4 Decision

Cell version has WiFi and an on board barometer if you ever need it. I'm not an Apple guy but my Mini 4 is my tablet of choice.

Mavic Pro-2 vs Zoom and P4P - Line Skipping + Sensor Heat?

Too bad guys don't recognize how good the Typhoons are; and Anfai is an excellent value compared to the M series.
