Yes, got it back. Well, they replaced it with another drone (different serial number). This one I was able to get the ring off, and install ND filters fine.
I think I found another issue with my new Air, this time with my controller. The wheel that tilts the camera gimbal down/up, doesn't center automatically, when i let go of it. The camera continues in the same direction until I re-center the wheel manually. Is this working as designed or an issue...
So I just checked my serial number. They gave me a completely different Mavic Air with a new serial number. They transferred the warranty to this new serial number. Is this what DJI does, they give people refurbished units back, instead of their original drones?
I guess it really doesn't...
EDIT: At first I couldn't remove the ring. But used a rubber band and it came off easy. So they did fix it. All the repair says is that they changed out the "Gimbal Axis Arm Module". I guess that includes the camera?
All electronics are highly marked up in USA. Especially high end audio equipment, speakers and electronics like these drones. DJI has to get their cut to pay their employees and assembly line and pay for shipping to the dealers. Then the dealers have a cut as well. It's how it works with...
I am confused if they are fixing this for free or charging me. The email is very confusing. One says Free of Charge next to it. Then the other email says $37.00. I explained I just purchased this device and the ring couldn't come off the very first day.
I chatted with DJI this morning. They just said to go to the Online support and create a ticket to return it to repair center. I did that and it is on it's way there now. Hopefully they don't charge me, because it is a warranty issue.
I also have DJI Care (Refresh), but did not use that on this...
I have the DJI Refresh on my Mavic Air, but am confused about what option on their website I use for warranty repair. The issue is the front filter ring on the camera is stuck and won't come off. So I can't use filters. It is jammed on there tight from the factory and not budging.
Do I open a...
So when I get a replacement, can I transfer the DJI Refresh to it? I only had this drone for a week. I didnt buy it from DJI, but another retailer. But bought the DJI Refresh for it from DJI.
Packed it up in the box, got a UPS return label from where I bought it. Now going to purchase another and hopefully that one will I'll be able to take the filter ring off to use my Polar Pro filters.
Well it's not budging. Warmed it slightly with hair dryer. Got the smallest vice grip I had and wrapped a tie around the lens ring and clamped down as close as it could be to the ring on the other side. Tried turning, and it isn't budging. Guess I have no choice but to send this back and...
I dont see any variance around the edge. I took a picture with my phone again and looked. The ring looks perfectly round and is seated perfectly all around. So doesn't look cross threaded to me.
I found this other thread where someone used a rubber band in a knot, then tied a tie strap around...
I called my camera repair store. They said it could have been cross threaded from the factory. But they have no filter wrench that small to remove it. Bummer. I will work on it a few more minutes, but otherwise going to pack up this Mavic Air Bundle and exchange it for another.
It just wont budge. I knew there was something wrong with it from day one, since it shouldnt be this hard to remove. The first day i got the drone, I just barely gripped it to try and unscrew it. Just like i do with my normal camera filters. I knew it is plastic and thin, so didnt use much...
