Hello,

With the Air3,
There is a resolution setting : 12 or 48 Mp
If I choose the 12 Mp setting,
is it for the 4:3 format or the 16:9 format ?
16:9 file size should be smaller than 4:3 file size.

My Air2 (not S) is quite good, I did use it a lot.
I will probably buy an Air3 soon ... optical zoom is an interesting feature for me.

The native aspect ratio for that camera is 4:3
You can choose to have the camera crop a little from the top and bottom of the image frame to give 16:9 aspect ratio.

The 12 vs 48 MP option is a different thing.
In 4: aspect ratio, you can choose to shoot in 48MP resolution (8064×6048) or 12 MP (reduced) resolution (4000 x 3000).

In 16:9 aspect ratio full resolution images would be 8064 x 4536 and reduced resolution would give
In reduced resolution, 16:9 images would be 4000 x 2250.

Always shoot full sensor (4:3). You can always crop in post production. That gives you more flexibility when you shoot.

So,
I will always use 4:3 (12mp)
16:9 is 9mp with the 12 mp setting

The 4:3 setting allows you to customize your 16:9 crop within the 4:3 frame, if you want a 16:9 aspect ratio to match video. No data is thrown away, unlike the 16:9 ratio that cuts off the top and bottom equally.
