First post here, just got my M2P last week, my first drone also, love it so far!
Anyway the first thing I noticed was reception issues in my area. After doing some reading I figured it would be a good idea to get a Raptor SR, read pretty much nothing but good reviews. I then stumbled upon some posts of people saying it gives no improvement to the M2P, do to its upgraded occusync system.
Is this true or not, should I go and get the Raptor SR?

You will not get the same results that everyone claims.
Every area will have its own variations of interference. Any range extender will have its good and bad areas.

What kind of range are you getting? Is your controller disconnecting from your drone? Is it returning to home?

I dont recommend range extenders to new drone users. You dont normally need them, and they might just let you fly so far away, you might never see your drone again.

I normally get 5000' from my M2P. If you are getting anything near that, no need for an extender.

I was maxing out around 1500’. I suppose this was due to dense trees and some hills surrounding the park I’ve been flying from. I was flying at 400’ though, so it should still of had a good LOS.

No return to home, when the signal was getting critical I would turn around. Also well aware of the inherit risks of outflying the battery.

A range extender might not help much because if you accidentally drop below tree line, or go around mountain, youre going to lose signal. Even at 400' if you have a dense forest in front, youre going to lose signal.

Whats the answer? If your range is limited at that spot to 1500' and you want to fly further, maybe find a different spot.

Also, if I were you, I would get a tracking device and State Farm insurance. Sounds a little bit risky where you fly.

Thanks for your advice, I will definitely give it a few more flights and different locations before I decide to buy an extender or not.

I do have my drone insured already under a personal property plan, as for a tracking device. Is there one you would recommend? Do they work like a passive RFID I can ping to find, or one that would have to be powered, using something like a 3g signal.
