A2 not connecting to Smart Controller

You need to update smart controller to 01.01.0040 and then use DJI Assistant to update drone to V02.04.1640, else the drone and smart controller just sit there beeping.

Just got my Air2S registered. I do own an M2P, smart controller and RE goggles.

I tried to connect the smart controller after updating it to the latest to the new Air2S. NO SUCCESS! Just beeps - no luck.
The A2S controller connects fine and works.
Anyone with an idea what is wrong here?

I used the normal controller and DJI Fly on my iPhone to update the drone's firmware, then I could pair with my SC.

Thanks! Yes... that did the trick.

I really want to use the smart controller. I hate fiddling with the phone aside from not being able to see it well outside in bright daylight.
The SC fits perfectly in the flymore bag of the A2S
Also using the SC aallows me to use the Goggles.

the RE goggles support the SC/M2P combo. I think it would be easy for DJI to update the firmware to allow connecting with an A2 or A2S.
