I wonder what that was used for when It operated? It doesn't look like a ski resort. Just for tourists to get to the top of the mountain?

This was one of the main entrances to the mountain from the capital - pity most of the lifts in Vitosha are abandoned - great mountain in the outskirts of the city and lifts are closed one by one
